The Storytelling and Arts Center of the Southeast in Laurinburg, NC once again hosts the Boldfaced Liars’ Showdown featuring nationally acclaimed storyteller, Kim Weitkamp.

If you love to laugh, don’t miss the Boldfaced Liars’ Showdown…it will be a hoot!   Dust off your whoppers, or pen a new prevarication and come to the showdown. The Storytelling and Arts Center of the Southeast (SACS), will once again present the Boldfaced Liars’ Showdown on January 21, 2012, at the Storytelling and Arts Center of the Southeast – 131 South Main Street in Laurinburg, NC.  Laughing is the best medicine for anything that ails you. 

Judges will be drawn from NC and surrounding states.  The Chief Judge will be national storyteller Kim Weitkamp from Christainburg, Virginia.  In the evening she will be the featured storyteller and she tells the funniest stories.  Kim is amazing!  She keeps producing new stories and adding to the familiar ones, that those of us who have heard her before are still thoroughly entertained and surprised. Her beautiful, jazzy voice and musicality add to her charm and versatility. Kim’s lightning quick wit, and her gentle demeanor make the audience never sure what to expect next:  to laugh, shed a tear, or do both at the same time. She is pals and performing partners with Bil Lepp and Andy Offutt Irwin. She loves Laurinburg and we love her.

The Bold-Faced Liars’ Showdown is a hoot … a fun-filled day and evening of laughter when lying through your teeth is an art form. No one likes to see themselves as a prevaricator ... except when you register to compete in the Bold-Faced Liars’ Showdown sponsored by the Storytelling and Arts Center of the Southeast on Saturday, January 21, 2012.  Come to the Showdown and vie for one of three trophies and cash prizes. Everyone who enters receives a certificate and a great time. This is the perfect venue to begin sharing some wonderful, fun, outlandish story you have been holding on to, and now have a venue in which to tell it. Storytellers with imaginative lies, 16 years old and above, from across the Southeast, are invited to enter the competition.  The judges will select the first, second and third place winners.  At the evening concert, prizes will be awarded to the 3 finalists and certificates will be given to all competitors.  The winning “liar” and the people’s choice ‘liar’ will perform their winning lies during the evening entertainment.  First 15 liars who register to compete are invited to lunch before the competition begins.

In the afternoon the Showdown competition is from 2 -5 pm . The evening awards and concert begins at 7 pm .
