"It's Alive"

Shadow Puppetry Camp!

Tuesday June 20-Friday, June 23, 2017 9 am to 12 pm

$30 per camper - includes all supplies and a daily snack

Join Concrete Temple Theatre in It’s Alive: a puppet workshop for out-of-the-box thinkers that will have participants bringing inanimate objects to life and creating magical wonders with just string and tape.

Participants in the workshop are exposed to different forms of shadow puppetry as they create their own puppets and bring them to life. Participants begin the workshop by writing simple stories, based on a common theme; they then create a storyboard for the story and then create the puppets drawn in the storyboard. The workshop culminates in a final presentation in which participants share their puppet plays.  Participants are also the puppeteers, learning what goes on behind the shadow screen, puppeteering not only in their own pieces but in the stories of their colleagues.  Sponsored in part by the United Way, the Scotland Memorial LIbrary, and the North Carolina Arts Council -a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
